Felix Brückners rezitativer Gesangsstil, der sich in Empathy nah an das Spoken-Word- Freischwimmen einschlägiger The-Wave-Bands heranwagt, sorgt stets für einen Mindestabstand zu Vierviertel-Plattitüden der Rockmusik. Dort wo La Dispute sich auf den Post Hardcore berufen würden, ankern FHEELS in den düsteren Grungerock-Gitarren von Soundgarden und den Melodiebögen von Eddie Vedder. Die Gesangsarbeit auf Lotus wird von Keyboarder Nitzbon und Bassist Murphy virtuos mitgetragen, während Brückner mit seinen unkonventionellen Stimmfacetten stets überraschende neue Horizonte erschließt. Seine ultimative Befreiung erfährt das intime und introvertierte Songwriting auf Lotus durch bipolare Extreme wie die tanzbare Leichtigkeit von Mr. Elephant oder das apokalyptisch schwere Dark Water.
„Wann immer die eigene Identität in einer Stimme transportiert wird, werde ich hellhörig“, sagt Brückner. „Für mich ist dann zweitrangig, ob das melancholisch wie Jeff Buckley, schrullig wie Tom Waits oder zerbrechlich wie bei Einar Solberg von Leprous klingt.“
Lotus wurde Ende 2019 zusammen mit Christoph Hessler (THE INTERSPHERE) im Toolhouse Studio Rotenburg live aufgenommen und produziert. Das Album erschien am 1.April 2022 auf Vinyl und CD.
Seit Anfang 2021 ersetzt Jonathan Murphy Jens Boysen an Bass und Gesang.

Felix Brückner's recitative vocal style -- which, as seen in the song 'Empathy,' sometimes comes close to the spoken-word freestyle of The-Wave bands -- always ensures a minimum distance to four-fourths platitudes of rock music. Where La Dispute would claim post hardcore, FHEELS anchor themselves in the gritty grunge-rock guitars of Soundgarden and the melodic arcs of Eddie Vedder. The vocal work on Lotus is virtuously carried along by keyboardist Nitzbon and bassist Murphy, while Brückner's unconventional vocal facets open up surprising unconventional horizons. The intimate, introverted songwriting on Lotus experiences its ultimate liberation through bipolar extremes, from the danceable lightness of 'Mr. Elephant' to the apocalyptically heavy 'Dark Water.'
"Whenever one's own identity is transported in a voice, it evokes a moment of clairvoyance," says Brückner. "For me, it's then secondary whether that sounds melancholic like Jeff Buckley, quirky like Tom Waits or fragile like Einar Solberg of Leprous."
Lotus was recorded and produced live with Christoph Hessler (THE INTERSPHERE) at Toolhouse Studio Rotenburg in late 2019. The album was released on vinyl and CD on April 1, 2022.
Since the beginning of 2021 Jonathan Murphy replaces Jens Boysen on bass and vocals.
