Die „maens“ existieren seit über 15 Jahren. Die minimalistisch gemalten Characters, Tiere und Pflanzen und mittlerweile auch Gegenständefinden sich vor allem in Hamburg, aber auch an allen möglichen anderen Orten der Welt. Obwohl sie nur schwarz & weiss sind, stehen die „maens“ für Diversität und ein buntes Miteinander. Die „maens“ kann man nicht nur an Wänden oder mehr oder weniger öffentlichen Orten entdecken, sondern auch in Magazinen, Büchern, auf Leinwänden, Stickern, auf Haut und in Ausstellungen. Auch im Fernsehen waren sie schon in einem Spot zum Thema „Inklusion“ von Aktion Mensch zu sehen. Die Familie wächst immer weiter, aber der populärste „maen“ bleibt der „seamaen“. Seine Message ist simpel: „home is, where the ocean is“ – und er symbolisiert Weltoffenheit und Toleranz. Die „maens“ durften bereits einige Projekte mit und für Viva con Agua, Clubkinder und HanseaticHelp umsetzen und kollaborieren mit anderen Artists wie z.B. fraujule*, Fritten Freddie oder CMYKdots.

The "maens" exist for over 15 years. The minimalist painted characters, animals and plants and now also objects can be found mainly in Hamburg, but also in all sorts of other places in the world. Although they are only black & white, the "maens" stand for diversity and a colorful coexistence. The "maens" can be discovered not only on walls or more or less public places, but also in magazines, books, on canvases, stickers, on skin and in exhibitions. They have also been seen on television in a spot on the theme of "inclusion" by Aktion Mensch. The family keeps growing, but the most popular "maen" remains the "seamaen". His message is simple: "home is where the ocean is" - and he symbolizes cosmopolitanism and tolerance.
